Clover Stevens - Graphic Designer

Clover continued her studies from Esher at Kingston University doing a Foundation course to decide what pathway she wanted to take. Clover enjoyed the quick pace of the foundation course with projects only lasting about a week or two. She was very passionate about graphic design and she chose to do her degree in this after her foundation.

She talked us through some projects she had completed when she was on the foundation. I think the whole class and I was surprised by the amount of work there is to do in so little time on a foundation, and especially a degree course.

professional practice -Mathew Morris

On the 5th of december a former student named, Matthew Morris came and gave us a talk about how his studies here at Esher have led to him working at top architectural companies. He was a designer at Heatherwick Studios and an architectural assistant at Grimshaw Architects. He showed us some of the few projects he has worked on which ranged from designing the metro system in Abu Dhabi to a walkway project in Shanghai. To negotiate the brief he meets the paying customers and listens to their requirments and potential design and then works alongside another achitect to create the potential idea. Depending on the size of the project, it will vary on the number of architects and assitants needed. To create the designs they initially sketch a few ideas and then process into a 3D design software programme and visualise it.

here is the animated story board for my animation. I used the actual set for my animation to do this, so this is what my actual animation should look like.

As are groups objects all consisted of house hold items, we decided that the best enviroment for them to sit in would be a living room set. We took an image of a white room and phtoshopped it so that it was the right dimentions for what we needed.we decided to pick the image we did, as the lack of colour allowed our objects to stand out from their background .We then inserted our objects into this space, so that it looked like a working living room. This page would then act as our homescreen for our group.

We then made a power point presentation which would go together with our animations. The point in this being to help explain how we came up with our ideas and back ground information on each of our objects.

1 note

Here is the first part of out presentation, where you will see me talk about how we made our first selection page and why we chose to present our objects in this way. We also incluse a few bullet points about our object with an image as well as a final page of how we thought we worked as a group and how we used out communication skills to produce and collect together our final presentation.

2 notes

In order to create my animation, i needed to refer to my story board, as this would tell what i needed to do at each stage of the animation. Here are all the stages in which i went through to create my animation. I used Adobe Flash to create this. The actual animation itself wasnt too hard, the main issues i had to overcome with my animation was the actual making of the set design.

Self portrait Exhibition

After completing my self portrait, we were then given the task to set up an exhibition of our work. We were put into groups of 4, and then set out how we would organise our work. The main issue for us was how we would set out all the work. We had to consider how it would all fit/link together, as the presentation of the work was just as important as the quality of the portraits.

Aswell as displaying our portraits , we had to display all our holiday work, which consisted of portraits of the other 2 artists i studied. As well as our portrait work, we had to design and make business cards for our groups, which contained information for the event.
